This historic event will mark a milestone in the history of Italian cycling and will attract the attention of enthusiasts and spectators from all over the world.
Emilia-Romagna will be at the center of the 2024 edition of the Tour de France, with three Italian stages scheduled, from Florence to Rimini, from Cesenatico to Bologna and from Piacenza to Turin. This route will cross Emilia-Romagna and the Via Emilia, an ancient road that goes from Rimini to Piacenza. This will be a tribute to Italy and its rich cycling heritage, celebrating the great Italian champions such as Bartali, Pantani and Coppi, on the centenary of the victory of Ottavio Bottecchia in 1924, the first Italian to wear the yellow jersey of the Tour de France.
The Rimini stage will take place on 29 June 2024, with a departure from Florence and a 205 kilometer route through the Apennines, passing through the picturesque Valmarecchia and San Marino, before reaching the finish line on the Rimini coast. The other two Italian stages will follow in the following days, with Cesenatico-Bologna on 30 June and Piacenza-Turin the following day.
